My friend hates my new hair style! I my hair cut shorter (shoulder length instead of halfway down my back) and a perm that is slightly tigher than my old style of perm. I like it, I think it is very flattering to my face shape and everyboy else seems to like it but this friend hates it! She is constantly begging me to change it because she thinks it is ugly. She hates curly hair to begin with and swears that my fiancee will dump me over having curly hair.

My fiancee says he likes it, so do my friends and family but my BFF says that they are all lying to protect my feelings.

She says I look like Weird Al or SideShow Mel. We are not high school kids, we are 23 years old so I'm sick of this petty cat like behavior!

well, the first thought that came to my mind was that she was probably jealoused of u, because that happened to me once, and i considered changing because what my best friend said. and i know u heart this a lot cuz it's actually very true! a true friend will respect ur feelings and cheer for u even if they think u cant do it. plus, if she hates curly hair, why can't u like it? it might not look good on her but it definitely looks good on u! so trust ur instincts and not another person. she SHOULD be congratualating u, not rebeling. think over this situation carefully before doing anything.

i think that pic is cute. You could even do that at home with a waving iron and some bobby pins. Just wave it with a heavy side part, put a little pomade through the hair and messily pin some of the hair back. Or a stylist can do a faux updo with a similar technique. Since it appears the hair is longer in front..

If your hair is that length then i think the best way to put it is.....

Half up and down,put some bangs down but to the side but only put the bangs down on your bad side cause then you can show off your good side.Also maybe even put some curls in the ponytail or in the bottom half.

I dunno. When you curl your hair, it goes much much shorter. You might want to actually do a straight style, because the curls are likely to be above your eyes if they're done like that.

the only prob i had was training my bangs to stay put. my hair was like yours so my bangs, after they were cut, kept wanting to move over and not stay in the middle of my face. you just have to work w/ them by blow drying them in place everymorning (and if you are like me, resisting the urge to push them off my face...).

Same problem, I have curly hair too and I love it, but hate it. If you don't want to straighten it all, you could do what I do as a back-up hairstyle and just striaghten your bangs (if you have any) and let them hang with the rest in a ponytail, bun, hair clip etc. Hope I helped!

Well, you could always straighten your hair. Check with a stylist first though. I have two friends with curly hair. One can straighten her hair and it looks gorgeous, while the other, it frays and damages her hair. Also, you can pull half of it back with a pretty clip or barrette. The trick to school hair is to make it simple but amazingly cute. Hint: sometimes magazines like Seventeen, or even online has tips for styling different textures and thicknesses of hair. My hair is really curly too!

one style i like to do is:

put your hair in your infamous ponytail.

take your hand to the bottom of the pony tail and grab your

hair and scrunch it to your head.

Pin all the loose ends.

Maybe leave a few tendrils in front.

Another is to side part it.

Then leave maybe a quarter inch in front.

Take your fingers and point them upward from your ears and

pull half of your hair up into a cute clip or barrette.

Pull the front quarter inch behind your ear.

A down do could be to take end of a pen that doesn't write and zig zag it down your part.

Then put your finger in the whole it creates and pull your hair apart on each side.

This should create a zig zag part.

Instead of cutting it why don't you buy yourself a very good STRAIGHTENING iron, one that heats to 400 degrees F, and iron your hair. You will end up with that long sleek look that all the famous folks have and with the right hair products (straightening balms and shine balms) it will look amazing.

Just get a trim and a bit off the front sides, maybe bangs if you want (but then you will have to get them cut every month or so) but by straightening it, and maybe putting a few thin streaks in it you will look like a million bucks.

If you're not sure have your hairdresser straighten it for you and then decide.

The most extravagant and sexy masquerade ball hair I have ever seen was Kristin Dunst in Marie Antoinette...She has a partial updo, but the portion that is pulled up is extremely high on her head..I don't think you'd need to get that high, (or even if you could!) but the style itself is fantastic of the time period that these balls took place.

I couldn't find a still pic of the style but I have included a link from the movie that shows her hair..It's really a cool look for a masquerade ball!

take the front of ur hair and part it as if u was going to make a bang. once u done that put a clip on it to hold the hair in place for now. put the rest of ur hair in a ponytail in the middle of ur hair. now take the piece of hair from the front and comb it back , now take sections of ur hair and crimp all of the hair on top only. you are going to almost make a hump, once u r done crimping ur hair grab all of the pieces and wrap around ur ponytail loose and secure it with pins and hair spray.

Side swept bangs look great on anyone. You must not have much time being a mother and all, so the side swept look with be perfect. it is extremely versatile and makes you look like you spent a lot of time on your hair even if you didn't. And the look great with your hair up in a ponytail. They look even better with your hair down.

It would also help to cut your hair short, about shoulder-length. Consider getter soft layers and tapering it in the front. The taper will help your side swept bangs transition into the rest of your hair!

Hi, I have decided that my hair style is boring and so I would like to change it, I have seen all the time that most people have spiked hair. So I thought maybe I should try it, does anyone know of any good ideas for the spikes, something that is easy and is ideal for short type of hair. I thought I would do this now because I will soon be getting some new glasses within the next week and I will pick a stylish design, I am also loosing a lot of weight so I will have a thinner appearence and new clothes so why not complete the look,

I'd say get your hair trimmed an inch or so off the bottom (to get rid ofsplit ends). Then get some layers, and maybe some side swept bangs. I didn't know if i should get bangs either but i got the side swept ones, and they look awesome! Hope this helps

I think it really depends on your personal 'style' and what you will and will not be willing to try. The best thing I could tell you to do is to go to a stylist and ask their opinion, and flip through some hair books. Compare their features to yours, and decide if the cut they are wearing looks good for them - as well as if it may look good for you.

It's all personal opinion, but I would stay away from really short bangs as they tend to look a little childish. Longer bangs that are swept to the side can be pretty (but can also get in the way), and long layers can give a nice shape to your hair.

People with oval-shaped faces really don't have too many problems wearing any type of cut - but if your hair is too long, it tends to make your face look longer, too.

You didn't mention whether you were blow drying it after you use the Mousse which I recommend would work better than gel for this style. Towel dry your hair put the Mousse in your hair right down to the scalp, not just the ends of the hair, rub it in good and then take your blow dryer and start blowdrying using your hands fluffing the hair and then you can use a round brush or skeleton brush to style the hair abit.Work with your hands, brush and try to shape it as your blow drying it.

Um, try using rewind 06 by redken. I use it, and love it to spike my hair. Don't put on a lot, just scoop it up in you're fingers, rub your hands together, and style your hair. Mine always looks horrible so I take a comb and position it the right way, wait a few minutes, and do it again with the comb, and; viola!

To smooth it out, try Chi's silk infusion. This has done wonders for my hair. Try getting a few layers also... then styling with a curling iron, either flipped out or rolled under a little for more body. Also, don't touch your hair a lot during the day... If your curls frizz, maybe your hair needs moisture and gentle handling. Have you tried conditioner only washing? It is a great thing for many curlies. You use cheapie conditioner, like VO5, Suave or White rain to wash and condition your hair. It works because the cheaper conditioners have more cleansing ingredients in them.

Here is how:

Glop on a lot of conditioner on your dry hair. Use lots, several big handfulls, at least. Thoroughly saturate your hair. pile it on your head and cover with a shower cap for ten minutes or longer.

Jump in the shower, take off the cap and add a little water. Wash like you are using shampoo. Massage your scalp and rinse. Rinse very well. The two biggies in making CO washing work is using enough conditioner and rinsing enough.

You can follow up with a rich, thicker conditioner, now. Apply, gently comb with a wide tooth seamless comb, clip it up and finish your shower. Rinse.

Use your fave curl-enhancing product, gently scrunch it in, set your curl pattern, then leave it to air dry. Don't mess with your hair.

Touching, combing and brushing just cause frizz.

Heat drying and using flat irons will just further dry and frizz your hair. And using a brush of any kind on wet or damp hair causes stretching and breakage! Two things your hair does not need.

If you want a more professional look a pretty updo would be appropriate and would help control some of your frizzies while protecting your delicate locks.

Wet sets are always good because they give you bouncy natural looking curls without a lot of heat damage. Set your hair with setting lotion on rollers and sit under a hooded dryer or let it air dry. Take out the rollers, when dry, and separate the curls with your fingers applying a shine serum like Citre Shine to them. This looks really nice. If your texturizer has made your hair naturally curly or wavy you can use a leave-in conditioner and a light mousse (Suave Aloe vera) to wear it natural. I'm sure either way it will come out great.

Just make sure you moisturize your hair daily because the chemical process of a texturizer can make hair dry.

It really all comes down too opinion. Do you want layers? How short do you want it? What about highlights?

But I can give you a suggestion:

Do a little bit of layers and see if you like them if not you can grow them out. You can keep you legnth.

Then maybe do a lowlight depending on how dark your hair is or do a mild highlight. (If you're not sure about highlights you don't have to get them)

Get a small bang and have your hair get a downward angle cut around you face.

And tada! You have a new hairstyle. That's just one way also.

ok the method here is going to sound totally crazy but it works

hairspray the shorter layers or your hair so they stick straight up at the back and a little on the sides too (moreso the side with your bangs) and then use a round brush and brush it down to the desired level of sticking uppy ness
